How do I apply?
We accept applications
through ERAS (click here)
Do I have to do a 4th year elective?
No. Most of our residents did not have
the opportunity to do a fourth year
elective at Ball to have a chance of
matching here. However, we feel a
month with us gives you a good idea
of who we are. Benefits of our
fourth year elective include free
housing and free food in the cafeteria
and a flexible curriculum.
Will my spouse find employment?
Muncie's population of 70,000
supports a strong economy
with opportunities in multiple
disciplines. In addition, several
spouses commute 45
minutes to Indianapolis,
Anderson and surrounding
communities. Muncie's major
employers are Cardinal Health
System, Ball State University and
the school systems.
Can residents do away rotations?
Yes. In addition to our international curriculum which allows our residents to work in a variety of third world countries, our residents have set up rotations all over the country. Most recently, residents have done electives in Orthopedics in Salt Lake City, Utah; Sports Medicine in North Carolina; Underserved Urban Medicine in Memphis; and Healthcare Policy with the NIH in Washington, DC Many of our residents also choose to participate in electives that are away but within driving distance of Muncie. This gives them the opportunity to continue seeing their clinic patients during their rotation.
How does having other residencies in the hospital affect your family medicine education?
BMH boasts residencies in Medicine, Pathology and Transitional Year. All residencies provide an exceptional and outstanding education. Senior Family Medicine Residents provide supervision for all rotations, with the exception of ICU, where supervision is provided by a Senior Medicine Resident. In addition, Family Medicine Residents have no competition for OB and Pediatric admissions and procedures. Plenty of medicine admissions provide for an outstanding education.
