  PGY-3 Resident

I grew up in a small town in Illinois and later moved to the outskirts of Chicago, with a few years in Colorado. I graduated from Ross University School of Medicine with my second doctoral degree, and am now at Ball Memorial Hospital in the Internal Medicine Residency program.

My husband and I chose Ball Memorial Hospital because of the family-like atmosphere and the welcoming feeling from staff and the community. Ball Memorial Hospital has an excellent reputation in medical education while also permitting a family life style. As a bonus, the rural setting of Muncie and surrounding area also reminds me of my upbringing and allows me to achieve my desires of serving the rural community.

My hobbies mostly consist of spending time with family and friends, my husband Arand, hiking, camping, and traveling together.

I was born and raised in Punjab, located in North India. I graduated from Government Medical College Nagpur. After medical school, I married and moved to Ohio. I am still exploring the United States, as I have been here only little over a two years. I enjoy traveling, watching movies and shopping.

I chose Ball Memorial Hospital to pursue my residency as I was influenced by the warmth and affectionate attitude of everyone and the congenial learning environment.  Having spent a while in Chicago and Seattle, I like the lack of traffic congestion here.

My aim is to learn and practice the art of medicine and be a well rounded physician by being part of the Ball Memorial Hospital team.

I grew up in a small city called Dohuk, in Kurdistan Region (Northern Iraq), where I also attended medical school. I immigrated to the U.S. in 2005 to join my wife, whose support I value most highly. During my free time, I enjoy playing chess and surfing the Internet, as well as spending time with my wife and my lovely daughter and son.

When the time came to apply for a residency position, I was seeking a program that was committed to quality healthcare and mentorship and would expose me to a variety of cases, to ultimately will make me a better physician. I interviewed at several programs, but I had no doubt that Ball Memorial Hospital would be my first choice. This was not only because of the quality of teaching I found here, but also the camaraderie among residents and the friendliness of the attending physicians and the program administration.

I am very excited to begin the next phase of my life and achieve the dream I have had since medical school of being a practicing internist.

I was born and raised in Tehran. I received my medical education from Shahid Beheshti University, a.k.a. National University, in Tehran. The medical programs in my home country are seven years long. In addition to internship, to receive my medical diploma, I worked in Tehran Blood Transfusion Organization as a general physician fulfilling the two years of obligatory public service requirement.

After receiving my medical degree, I immigrated to the United States to be with my family. Since then I have done externships at various institutions in Michigan, Louisiana, and Ohio while preparing for medical residency.

My hobbies are to spend time with the family, travel, and paint oil color on canvas. I’m interested in reading books about world history. I hope to again pick-up on my hobbies after the PGY-2 year.
